On Surfari to Ulladulla
Posted by admin on September 16th, 2007 filed in Surf trips, Surf videos by RealSurfIn July 2007, my good mate Tim was out from the US for another visit, so PB and I took him south to one of his favourite surf spots: Golf Course reef, Ulladulla. We got some little waves the first day, but on the second day, the wind went offshore and the swell pushed up into the fun range.
About the video:
During August 2007, I was able to spend some time messing around with Canon’s new HV20 camcorder and this footage is a result of that experience. The HV20 shoots in the HDV1080i format which is noticeably sharper than standard definition DV (1080 instead of 720 lines will do that for ya). Anyway, as part of the loan agreement, Canon ran a little competition in which they challenged tech journos to create a video about a personal passion.
And that’s what this is about!
All my previous videos have been edited with nothing more high tech than Apple’s $60 QuickTime Pro, but for this project I decided to try out Sony’s Vegas Movie Studio. Although it is a radically more comprehensive package, I didn’t find it that difficult to pick up the basics on this, my first effort.
